TIM DREW STEVENSON
It seems to me as if I have always walked the line between the analogue and digital worlds. Although I established a firm background with traditional media, I nevertheless always had my eye on the emerging technologies involved with digital image making. This curiosity eventually led me to a rewarding career in Visual Effects for commercials and feature films, where I’ve worked for over twenty years applying this technology at the world’s leading studios such as George Lucas’s ILM and Peter Jackson’s WETA.
Now, with the maturing and increased accessibility of these imaging technologies, I am bringing my experience with motion capture and scanning methods to the creation of digital portraits. Rendering scanned data using photoreal computer graphic techniques to ground the resulting images in experienced reality, I am seeking in my work a visual and emotional balance- a blend between what is quantifiable and what we perceive and feel.
